In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to use mockups in Affinity Designer. We will take a business card design and place it in a business card mockup. The following design is from another tutorial called how to create a business card in Affinity Designer.

Step 1

When you have your business card design completed, group the elements of your design together by pressing CTRL + G on the keyboard. Or select all of your design, then right-click on it and select Group. After that, go to Mockups-Design.

Step 2

Scroll down and select the Free Stacked business cards.

Step 3

Now, click Download and save the file.

Step 4

Then, go to the mockup download and Extract the file so that you can open it.

Step 5

Next, right click on the first stacked business card and select Open with Affinity Designer.

Note: Most mockups you’ll find happen to be PSD (Photoshop) files, but these files can be opened and edited in Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo.

Step 6

When the mockup opens in Affinity Designer, go to the Mockup group.

Step 7

After that, click on the Main group. Select the Project 1 pixel layer and delete it.

Step 8

Go to your card design and copy the front of the card. Then, go back to the mockup file and paste the design. Make sure you drag your design inside of the Main group.

Step 9

Next, rearrange the design so that it’s stacked properly on the card stack.

Step 10

Once you’ve finished the Main group, select the Top Business Cards group. Then, select each of the Top BC pixel layers and paste the front of the business card design into each of these layers. You’ll have to drag the design into the pixel layer, and then place the design in the proper area.

Step 11

Now, rearrange the card. You don’t have to worry about the design showing here since most of this area is cut off.

Step 12

Go to your card design. Group the elements of the design together, and then copy the design.

Step 13

Next, go to the mockup and select the Bottom BC layer. Paste the design here. You’ll have to drag the design inside of the Bottom BC layer.

Step 14

Once you paste your design, reposition it and place it over one of the blue cards.

Step 15

When you’ve placed your design over the blue cards, go to the Layers Panel and delete the blue pieces labeled Project 3.

Step 16

After all the blue cards have been replaced, go to the Layers panel.

Step 17

Then, go to the layer labeled Edge Color 2. Here, you’ll change the color of your business card design along its edge.

Step 18

With the Edge Color 2 layer selected, go to the Swatches panel. Double click on the selected color to open the Color Chooser. Click on the Picker and drag it over your card design to get the color. Then, click the color on the picker to change the edge color.

Step 19

Finally, select the layer labeled Edge Color 1 in the Layers panel. Then, go to the Swatches panel and change the color to the color of your business card design.

Congratulations, this tutorial is complete! You now know how to use mockups in Affinity Designer.
