Serif Labs created Affinity Designer which is a vector graphics software. When I first got Affinity Designer a few years ago, I searched the web for tutorials that could teach me how to use Affinity Designer. This was before I finally decided to buy the Affinity Designer Workbook and take courses on Udemy. At the time, I couldn’t find sites with those types of tutorials. The tutorials that I did find were mostly for Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Throughout my search, I did find three sites (all of which are free) that helped me in learning Affinity Designer. Continue reading below to see the websites that will help you learn Affinity Designer for free.

1. Frankentoon Studio

Frankentoon Studio is a design studio based in San Salvador (the capital city of El Salvador). Their website Frankentoon Studio (formerly just Frankentoon) is one website with Affinity Designer tutorials. With their tutorials, you can learn things such as how to create text effects, patterns, retro graphics, illustrations, how to use masking layers, and how to use grids. Frankentoon also has tutorials for Affinity Photo and Procreate. In addition to their tutorials, they have resources such as brushes, templates, textures, and vector assets that you can purchase. Check out one of my favorite tutorials by them, how to create a retro icon.

2. Tutsplus (EnvatoTuts+)

Tutsplus, which is part of envato.com (a marketplace site for design resources), offers Affinity Designer tutorials. They have things such as creating icons, illustrations, emojis, patterns, flat designs and more. Also, they have tutorials on web design, game development, coding, 3D & motion graphics, and Adobe products. Here’s a cool tutorial to check out on how to create a detailed beer label.

3. Affinity Spotlight

Serif Labs (the creators of Affinity Designer) has a site called Affinity Spotlight. This site has news, learning resources, and inspiration from people all over who use the Affinity apps. On Affinity Spotlight, you can find a few Affinity Designer tutorials along with tutorials on Affinity Photo and Affinity Publisher.

Bonus

YouTube is another site where you can learn Affinity Designer for free. Here is a brief list of some of my favorite channels you should check out. Also, these channels have tutorials for Affinity Photo and Affinity Publisher.

  1. Affinity Revolution
  2. Jhonatan S Silva
  3. Design Art Studio
  4. Isabel Aracama

Finally, don’t forget to subscribe to The Creative Hagja‘s YouTube channel. You can find tutorials on Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo too.
